Assorted Anubias Plant Pack

Anubias barteri var. (assorted)

Why We Love This Plant

  • Selected for shrimp tanks
  • Improves water quality
  • No CO₂ required
  • Beginner-friendly

The Assorted Anubias Plant Pack is an assortment of 5 pots selected from our full Anubias collection: Nana, Nana Petite, Coffeefolia, Nancon, Frazeri, and Nana Gold. Anubias are slow-growing rhizome plants that attach to driftwood or rock rather than planting in substrate — one of the most reliable and beginner-friendly plant groups in the freshwater hobby.

Specific varieties are selected based on current stock to ensure the freshest, healthiest plants. Each variety has distinct leaf shape and size but shares the same easy-care requirements: low light, no CO2, and water parameters compatible with shrimp, snails, and nano fish.

Care Notes

Anubias are epiphytes — the rhizome (the thick horizontal stem connecting the leaves and roots) must remain ABOVE the substrate at all times. Burying the rhizome causes rot. Remove from the pot, rinse most of the rock wool from the roots, and attach the rhizome to driftwood or stone using super glue gel or thin thread.

Low light is fine and preferred — intense lighting accelerates algae growth on the slow-growing leaves without meaningfully speeding up the plant. No CO2 or fertilizer is required. Trim damaged or algae-covered leaves at the base of the rhizome with sharp scissors.

Expert Advice
Razz Aquatics Recommendation

Anubias are the most reliable plants in the freshwater hobby. Glue or tie the rhizome to a piece of driftwood, keep the light moderate, and leave them alone — these plants reward patience and minimal disturbance. An excellent choice for shrimp tanks where you want a planted look without the maintenance demands of stem plants.

Common Questions

Assorted Anubias Plant Pack FAQ

What Anubias varieties are included?+
The pack is selected from our current Anubias collection: Nana, Nana Petite, Coffeefolia, Nancon, Frazeri, and Nana Gold. Specific varieties are chosen based on current stock to ensure the freshest, healthiest plants.
Do I need CO2 or fertilizer?+
No. Anubias grow under low light without CO2 or fertilizer. Growth is slow by nature — that is normal and healthy for this genus.
Can I plant them in substrate?+
No. Anubias are epiphytes. The rhizome must remain above the substrate; only the roots may extend into substrate or wrap around hardscape.
What is the free shipping threshold?+
Plants and dry goods ship free at $75+. Adding livestock to your order unlocks free 2-Day Shipping at $120+ or free Overnight at $200+.
Are these plants safe for shrimp?+
Yes — Anubias are excellent for shrimp tanks. We select plants for shrimp tanks and handle them with invertebrate safety in mind. The thick, slow-growing leaves host biofilm that shrimp graze on continuously.
How do I attach them?+
Remove from the pot, rinse most of the rock wool from the rhizome, and attach to driftwood or stone with super glue gel or thin thread. The rhizome must stay ABOVE the substrate — burying it causes rot.
How is it shipped?+
Plants are packed with damp protective material to help protect them in transit. Weather protection may be used when conditions require it. Plants typically ship Monday through Thursday so they avoid sitting over the weekend.
Is there a live arrival guarantee?+
Yes — Live Plant Arrival Guarantee on every order. Photograph the plant in its original packaging on the day of delivery, before trimming or replanting, and submit a claim through the Start a Claim page. Approved claims are resolved with store credit, refund, or replacement at Razz Aquatics' discretion.
