Quick Answers

What water parameters do Taiwan Bee Caridina need?
Most Taiwan Bee Caridina (Blue Bolt, Wine Red, Shadow Panda, Pure Red Line) do best in soft, acidic water — typically RO water remineralized to around pH 6.0–6.8, GH 4–6, KH 0–2, TDS 100–150. These are general guidelines; always verify requirements for your specific species.
Do I need RO water for Caridina?
For Taiwan Bee grades, yes — RO water with a shrimp-specific remineralizer gives you the control needed to hit the right parameters. Standard tap water is usually too hard and alkaline for these shrimp long-term.
Can I keep Caridina with Neocaridina?
It's not recommended. They require different water parameters that can't be optimized for both at the same time. Keeping them separate lets you dial in the right conditions for each.
What makes varieties like Blue Bolt and Shadow Panda different from regular shrimp?
Taiwan Bee shrimp are selectively bred for bold, high-contrast patterns. Blue Bolt is known for its vivid blue and white patterning, while Shadow Panda displays a striking black-and-white contrast. Pure Red Line is prized for dense, clean red coloration. Each variety has its own grade standards.
What are Amano and Bamboo Shrimp, and are they also Caridina?
Amano and Bamboo Shrimp are in the broader Caridina family but have very different care profiles from Taiwan Bees. Amano Shrimp are hardy, excellent algae eaters, and adapt well to a range of water parameters. Bamboo Shrimp are filter feeders that do best in tanks with good flow. Neither requires the specialized soft-water setup that Taiwan Bees need.

About This Collection

Caridina Shrimp

Caridina shrimp represent the more advanced side of freshwater shrimp keeping — and for good reason. Species like Blue Bolt, Wine Red, Shadow Panda, and Pure Red Line are among the most visually striking invertebrates in the hobby, developed through selective breeding for their intense, contrasting patterns. This collection includes both collector Caridina types, like Blue Bolt and Shadow Panda, and larger utility shrimp such as Amano and Bamboo Shrimp. Care requirements vary widely, so check each product page before ordering. Collector Caridina generally require more specific water conditions than Neocaridina. They do best in soft, slightly acidic water made with RO filtration and a dedicated shrimp remineralizer. Parameters around pH 6.0–6.8, GH 4–6, KH 0–2, and TDS 100–150 are a common starting point for Taiwan Bees, though individual species can vary. Cardinal Sulawesi Shrimp are a distinct category with their own warm-water, higher-pH requirements. All orders are covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee and ship Monday through Thursday. We recommend having your water parameters dialed in before your shrimp arrive.
