Beginner-friendly
Brazilian Pennywort (Hydrocotyle leucocephala) is a fast-growing stem plant with distinctive round, scalloped leaves on long, arching stems. The rounded leaf shape is immediately recognizable and adds visual diversity to planted tanks that rely mostly on narrow-leaved or elongated plants. It ships as a small bunch of cut stems, lead-weighted together at the base.
Brazilian Pennywort is extremely easy to grow — fast, tolerant, and adaptable. It can be planted in substrate or left floating. Floating stems create a shaded canopy that shrimp and fish often use as cover and shelter, while planted stems grow upright toward the surface in a more structured background form.
Care Notes
Brazilian Pennywort grows fast under low to medium light and does not need CO2. Trim regularly to prevent it from taking over the surface and shading out other plants. Can be planted in substrate or left floating for a different growth form and to provide surface canopy cover.
Propagates easily by topping and replanting cuttings. Basic liquid fertilization supports the fast growth rate.

Expert Advice
Razz Aquatics Recommendation
Brazilian Pennywort is one of the few stem plants that works well both planted and floating. Consider leaving a portion floating to create surface cover for shrimp. Trim both the planted and floating portions regularly to keep it from dominating the tank.
