Christmas Moss (Vesicularia montagnei) is named for the way its triangular fronds branch outward in a Christmas-tree pattern. This product is a pre-grown moss mat — Christmas Moss attached to a flexible stainless-mesh panel, ready to drop into the tank as an instant moss-covered surface. The mat can be cut to fit hardscape, layered along the bottom for a moss carpet, or secured to glass and hardscape with aquarium-safe methods.
Compared to loose moss portions, the mat establishes faster and stays in place from day one. The mesh grid disappears once the moss has fully spread across the surface, and the mat can be lifted out for trimming and re-installed without losing structure.
Care Notes
Christmas Moss grows in almost any stable water condition and does not require CO2 or fertilizer. Growth rate increases with stronger light and liquid fertilizer dosing, but the moss thrives in low-tech setups.
