Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Bronze' is a hardy midground rosette plant with broad bronze-brown leaves on relatively short stems. The bronze cultivar is one of the most reliably colored Crypts in the hobby — the warm tone develops under a wide range of light conditions. It tolerates a wide range of water parameters and is one of the most forgiving Crypts overall.
Like all Crypts, 'Bronze' is slow-growing once established. It grows under low to medium light without CO2 — a reliable midground choice for low-tech tanks and shrimp setups, and a strong color contrast against green plants.
Care Notes
Crypt wendtii 'Bronze' roots in substrate. Plant with the crown (where the leaves meet the roots) ABOVE the substrate. Burying the crown causes rot. Root tabs help significantly — Crypts are heavy root feeders.
Crypts can melt after a parameter change or transplant — leaves yellow and dissolve, but the roots stay alive. Leave the plant in place and it usually regrows from the rhizome over a few weeks. Avoid moving Crypts once they are settled.
