Ludwigia sp. 'Super Red Mini' is a compact, small-leaved Ludwigia cultivar that develops intensely vivid red coloration under high light, CO2, and iron-rich dosing. The 'Mini' form has noticeably smaller leaves than standard Super Red, making it well-suited to nano and mid-sized tanks where a tighter red stem plant is preferred. It ships as a small bunch of cut stems, lead-weighted together at the base.
Like all high-color Ludwigia varieties, Super Red Mini is most rewarding under high-tech conditions. Without strong light and CO2 it will grow but the signature vivid red coloration will not develop fully. The stems should be separated, trimmed at the base, and planted individually.
Care Notes
Ludwigia 'Super Red Mini' grows best under high light with CO2 injection and consistent iron-rich dosing. The small leaf size means this variety is sensitive to nutrient deficiencies; keep dosing consistent for the best color. Trim and top regularly — fast growth under good conditions means frequent topping is normal.
Under lower light without CO2, the plant grows as a muted orange-green. Increasing light and CO2 is the most reliable way to develop the vivid red the variety is known for.
