Seachem Stability rapidly and safely establishes the aquarium biofilter in freshwater systems, preventing the leading cause of fish death: new tank syndrome. It contains a synergistic blend of aerobic, anaerobic, and facultative bacteria that break down ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and waste organics. The bacteria used in Stability are non-sulfur-fixing and will not produce hydrogen sulfide. Safe to add with fish present.
Unlike some competing bacterial supplements that rely on heterotrophic bacteria in a spore state, Stability contains bacteria that are active and ready to establish. Completely harmless to all aquatic plants and organisms with no risk of overdose. Use at setup, after water changes, after medication, and whenever adding new fish to reinforce the biofilter. Pairs well with Seachem Prime.

Why It Works
Product Highlights
01
Rapidly Establishes Biofilter
Synergistic blend of aerobic, anaerobic, and facultative bacteria that break down ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and waste organics to cycle new tanks faster.
02
Prevents New Tank Syndrome
New tank syndrome is the leading cause of fish death in new aquariums. Stability dramatically reduces the risk by rapidly seeding the biofilter before ammonia and nitrite can spike.
03
Safe for All Livestock & Plants
Completely harmless to all freshwater fish, shrimp, snails, and aquatic plants. No risk of overdose — safe to use with fish present from day one.
How to Use
How to Use
Shake well before use. Turn off any UV sterilizers or ozone during the initial dosing period. New tanks: add 1 capful (5 mL) per 10 US gallons on day one, then 1 capful per 20 US gallons daily for 7 days. Fish may be introduced at any time during this period as long as dosing continues.
Established tanks: add 1 capful per 20 US gallons once monthly, with each water change, and whenever adding new fish or medicating. It is impossible to overdose — excess bacteria will simply die off if there is insufficient ammonia to sustain them.

Complete Your Setup
Pair equipment with the supplies needed to finish the setup.
Yes — Seachem Stability is completely harmless to freshwater shrimp, snails, and all aquatic plants at any dose. There is no risk of overdose.
Do I need to turn off my UV sterilizer?+
Yes — turn off UV sterilizers and ozone during the initial dosing period. UV light and ozone will kill the live bacteria before they can establish.
Should I use Stability with every water change?+
For established tanks, adding Stability with each water change and whenever adding new fish helps reinforce the biofilter, especially if the water change is large or if the tank has been treated with medication.
What is the free shipping threshold?+
Free shipping on plants and dry goods at $75+.
Can I add fish immediately after using Stability?+
Yes — fish and other aquatic species may be introduced at any time during the initial 7-day dosing period as long as dosing is continued daily.
How long does it take to cycle a tank with Stability?+
Stability significantly reduces cycle time but does not instantly cycle a tank. Most users see a functional cycle establish within 1–2 weeks with daily dosing, compared to 4–8 weeks without. Continue testing ammonia and nitrite until both read zero.
How is it shipped?+
Packed securely and shipped Monday through Thursday via standard ground shipping. Plants and dry goods ship free at $75+. Transit times vary by location.
Can I order this with livestock?+
Yes. Dry goods can ship together with livestock orders.
