Assorted Cryptocoryne Plant Pack

Cryptocoryne spp. (assorted)

Why We Love This Plant

  • Selected for shrimp tanks
  • Improves water quality
  • No CO₂ required
  • Beginner-friendly

The Assorted Cryptocoryne Plant Pack is an assortment of 5 potted Crypt plants selected from our full Crypt collection: Wendtii Green, Wendtii Red, Wendtii Bronze, Parva, Tropica, Lutea, and Lucens. Crypts are slow-growing rosette plants that root in substrate and are among the most adaptable and forgiving mid-ground plants in the freshwater hobby.

Specific varieties are selected based on current stock. All share the same core care requirements: low to medium light, no CO2, and stable water parameters. Note that Crypts commonly experience temporary leaf melt when transitioning to a new aquarium — this is a normal stress response; the roots survive and new growth follows from the rhizome over the following weeks.

Care Notes

Plant Crypts in substrate with the crown (where the leaves meet the roots) ABOVE the surface. Do not separate individual plants into stems — these are rosette plants. Burying the crown causes rot. Root tabs placed near the roots provide a significant growth benefit — Crypts are heavy root feeders.

Once settled, avoid disturbing or moving Crypts. They are sensitive to change and will often melt again after being uprooted. If your Crypt melts, resist the urge to remove it — the roots usually stay alive and the plant regrows within a few weeks as it acclimates to your tank's parameters.

Expert Advice
Razz Aquatics Recommendation

Plant in the mid-ground, drop a root tab nearby, and leave them alone. Crypts reward patience — they establish slowly but once settled they grow reliably and rarely need attention. An excellent long-term planted-tank plant and great pairing with Anubias for a low-maintenance shrimp tank layout.

Common Questions

Assorted Cryptocoryne Plant Pack FAQ

What Cryptocoryne varieties are included?+
The 5 pack is selected from our current Crypt collection: Wendtii Green, Wendtii Red, Wendtii Bronze, Parva, Tropica, Lutea, and Lucens. Specific varieties are chosen based on current stock to ensure the freshest, healthiest plants.
Are these plants safe for shrimp?+
Yes — Crypts are a popular mid-ground plant in shrimp tanks. We select plants for shrimp tanks and handle them with invertebrate safety in mind.
How do I plant them?+
Plant in substrate with the crown — where the leaves meet the roots — ABOVE the substrate surface. Never separate into individual stems. Burying the crown causes rot.
What is the free shipping threshold?+
Plants and dry goods ship free at $75+. Adding livestock to your order unlocks free 2-Day Shipping at $120+ or free Overnight at $200+.
My Crypt is melting — is it dead?+
Probably not. Crypt melt is a very common stress response to parameter changes or transplanting. The leaves yellow and dissolve but the roots stay alive. Leave the plant in place — it usually regrows from the rhizome over a few weeks as it adjusts to your tank.
Do I need CO2 or fertilizer?+
No CO2 required. Root tabs placed near the roots help significantly — Crypts are heavy root feeders and grow noticeably better with root supplementation.
How is it shipped?+
Plants are packed with damp protective material to help protect them in transit. Weather protection may be used when conditions require it. Plants typically ship Monday through Thursday so they avoid sitting over the weekend.
Is there a live arrival guarantee?+
Yes — Live Plant Arrival Guarantee on every order. Photograph the plant in its original packaging on the day of delivery, before trimming or replanting, and submit a claim through the Start a Claim page. Approved claims are resolved with store credit, refund, or replacement at Razz Aquatics' discretion.
