FritzZyme 7 contains live, freshwater-specific strains of true nitrifying bacteria — the real thing, not spore-state heterotrophic bacteria that only superficially mimic the nitrogen cycle. Fritz Industries pioneered commercial-scale cultivation of live nitrifying bacteria over 30 years ago and remains one of the only producers in the world doing so continuously. FritzZyme 7 rapidly seeds the biofilter to dramatically reduce cycle time and prevent the toxic ammonia and nitrite spikes that cause new tank syndrome.
Unlike spore-based competitors, FritzZyme 7 bacteria are buffered for long-term stability without refrigeration, with a 1-year shelf life. The 16 oz bottle treats up to 80 gallons at the new system dose. Use in new tanks to cycle faster, and in established tanks after large water changes, aggressive cleaning, medication, or adding new livestock to reinforce the biofilter when it needs it most.

Why It Works
Product Highlights
01
True Live Nitrifying Bacteria
Contains actual live, freshwater-specific nitrifying bacteria — not spore-state heterotrophic bacteria. The original commercially produced live nitrifying bacteria, in continuous production for over 30 years.
02
Prevents New Tank Syndrome
Rapidly seeds the biofilter to dramatically shorten cycle time, allowing livestock to be introduced sooner without the toxic ammonia and nitrite spikes that cause new tank syndrome.
03
No Refrigeration Required
Buffered for stability without refrigeration, with a 1-year shelf life. Safe for all freshwater fish, shrimp, snails, and plants with no risk of overdose.
How to Use
How to Use
Shake well before use. Dechlorinate water with Prime or another water conditioner before dosing — chlorine and chloramine are toxic to live bacteria and must be neutralized first. New systems: add 4 oz (119 mL) per 10 US gallons. For heavy livestock loads, this dose may be safely increased up to 10x. Established systems: add 2 oz (60 mL) per 10 US gallons.
Use FritzZyme 7 after aggressive filter cleaning, large water changes, medication, or whenever adding significant new livestock. Store in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. Use before the expiration date. Do not freeze.

Yes — FritzZyme 7 is safe for all freshwater shrimp, snails, fish, and plants. There is no risk of overdose.
How long does it take to cycle a tank with FritzZyme 7?+
FritzZyme 7 dramatically reduces cycle time but results vary by tank conditions, temperature, and bioload. Most users report functional cycles in 1–3 weeks compared to 4–8 weeks without. Continue testing ammonia and nitrite regularly until both read zero.
Does it need to be refrigerated?+
No — FritzZyme 7 is buffered for stability without refrigeration. Store in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and use before the expiration date. Do not freeze.
What is the free shipping threshold?+
Free shipping on plants and dry goods at $75+.
Do I need to dechlorinate water before using it?+
Yes — this is critical. Chlorine and chloramine in tap water will kill the live bacteria before they can establish. Always treat water with Prime or another water conditioner first, then add FritzZyme 7.
Can I add fish right after using FritzZyme 7?+
Fritz recommends introducing an ammonia source (fish or bottled ammonia) after adding FritzZyme 7 to give the bacteria something to feed on. Without ammonia in the water, the bacteria have no food and will not establish.
How is it shipped?+
Packed securely and shipped Monday through Thursday via standard ground shipping. Plants and dry goods ship free at $75+. Transit times vary by location.
Can I order this with livestock?+
Yes. Dry goods can ship together with livestock orders.
