Why We Love This Shrimp
Electric color against dark substrate
Beginner-friendly, wide pH range
Natural algae and biofilm grazer
Peaceful community invertebrate
Breeds readily in stable water
Quarantined before every shipment
Yellow Goldenback Shrimp are a patterned color morph of Neocaridina davidi, characterized by a yellow stripe running along the dorsal line of a mostly transparent body. This makes them distinct from fully opaque yellow Neocaridina — the stripe is the feature, not a saturated overall body color.
Every Yellow Goldenback Shrimp we ship is quarantined and health-checked at our facility before it leaves. We run over 100 dedicated aquariums on-site. These are not pet store shrimp — they are selected for clear stripe definition and raised in stable, clean water.
Care Notes
Neocaridina are forgiving, but stability matters more than perfection. Avoid sudden swings in temperature, pH, or GH — drip acclimation on arrival is essential. Do not use copper-based medications in a shrimp tank under any circumstances. Feed a small amount 3–4 times per week; remove uneaten food after 24 hours. A mature tank with established biofilm is the best environment for a new colony.

Species Spotlight
Why We Love This Shrimp
01
Yellow With a Distinct Dorsal Stripe
Goldenback shrimp are a yellow Neocaridina variant with a yellow dorsal stripe running down a mostly transparent body — distinct from the fully opaque Yellow Fire or Yellow Lemon morphs. The stripe creates a clean, defined look that reads well in planted tanks.
02
Natural Tank Cleaners
Neocaridina graze biofilm and algae constantly — working every surface of your tank around the clock without any intervention from you.
03
They Breed in Your Tank
In stable conditions, Yellow Goldenback Shrimp reproduce readily. A small group becomes a self-sustaining colony over time — the pace depends on your water and setup.
Community Tank
Compatible Tank Mates
These species coexist peacefully with shrimp. Research before mixing — not every fish is safe.

Expert Advice
Razz Aquatics Recommendation
Yellow Goldenback Shrimp show their dorsal stripe most clearly against dark substrate, where the transparent body disappears and the yellow line is the dominant visual element. They work well as an accent in a multi-morph Neocaridina tank. A sponge filter and mature tank are the ideal setup.

Common Questions
Yellow Goldenback Shrimp FAQ
Are Yellow Goldenback Shrimp good for beginners?+
Yes. Yellow Goldenback Shrimp are Neocaridina — beginner-friendly, wide pH tolerance, and active breeders in stable conditions.
What water parameters do Yellow Goldenback Shrimp need?+
pH 6.5–8.0, temperature 65–80°F, GH 6–8, KH 2–4. Most conditioned tap water works well. Avoid copper-based medications and sudden parameter swings.
Is there a live arrival guarantee?+
Yes — 100% Live Arrival Guarantee on every order. Photo any DOA in the sealed bag on the day of delivery. Contact us through the Start a Claim page and we will resolve it.
How do Goldenback shrimp differ from solid yellow Neocaridina?+
Goldenback shrimp have a yellow dorsal stripe on a transparent body — the yellow is concentrated along the back, not spread across the whole shrimp. Solid yellow morphs like Yellow Lemon or Yellow Fire have fully opaque bodies. Different visual effect, same care requirements.
How are Yellow Goldenback Shrimp shipped?+
Professionally packed in an insulated box with a heat or cold pack matched to your local weather forecast. Livestock ships Monday through Thursday and delivers Tuesday through Friday. Choose your preferred delivery date at checkout.
Can Yellow Goldenback Shrimp live with fish?+
Yes, with the right species. Ember Tetras, Pygmy Corydoras, Otocinclus, and Celestial Pearl Danios are safe choices. Avoid any fish large enough to swallow a shrimp.
Live plants give shrimp constant grazing surfaces, sheltered hiding spots for shrimplets, and promote the natural biofilm growth shrimp feed on. Every plant is shrimp-safe and ships safely alongside livestock.
