Fascinating to watch
Yellow Rabbit Snails are Sulawesi natives from Indonesia — elongated, slow-moving snails with a bright yellow body and a distinctly textured, spiral shell. They are larger than most freshwater snails, reaching 3–4 inches in shell length at maturity, which makes them a genuine visual presence in a tank rather than just a clean-up afterthought.
Rabbit Snails are livebearers — they give birth to a single, fully-formed juvenile at a time, enclosed in a white membrane. They reproduce very slowly, which means they will never overrun a tank the way pest snails do. They prefer warmer water than most freshwater snails (75–86°F) and do best in moderately hard, alkaline conditions with fine sandy or smooth substrate.
Care Notes
Rabbit Snails prefer warmer water than most freshwater snails — maintain temperature at 75–86°F. They thrive in moderately hard, alkaline water; soft acidic water stresses them and damages shells over time.
Use fine sand or smooth substrate to protect their foot. Supplement with blanched vegetables (zucchini, spinach, kale) 2–3 times per week. Add calcium via cuttlebone or mineral blocks. Never use copper-based medications. Rabbit Snails are livebearers and reproduce slowly — one juvenile at a time, enclosed in a white membrane.
Yellow Rabbit Snails are 3–4 inches long with a bright yellow body and a distinctive elongated shell. They are unmistakably visible in any tank.

Self-Limiting Population
Rabbit Snails are livebearers that produce one juvenile at a time. They will never overrun a tank — you get the grazing benefit without the pest snail problem.
03
Slow, Deliberate, Fascinating
Rabbit Snails move through a tank with obvious purpose. Watching them graze and explore is genuinely engaging.

Compatible Tank Mates
These species coexist peacefully with shrimp. Research before mixing — not every fish is safe.
Keep Rabbit Snails on fine sand or smooth substrate — coarse gravel can abrade their foot over time. Pair them with Neocaridina shrimp and Java Moss for a low-maintenance, planted setup. Add a cuttlebone or calcium supplement to support shell health, especially in softer water. They are slow movers and lose in direct competition with faster tank mates — spot-feed if needed.

Common Questions
Yellow Rabbit Snail FAQ
Are Yellow Rabbit Snails safe with shrimp?+
Yes — fully compatible with shrimp. Rabbit Snails are peaceful grazers that occupy a different niche from shrimp and will not predate adult shrimp or shrimplets.
Will they overrun my tank?+
No. Rabbit Snails are livebearers that give birth to a single, fully-formed juvenile at a time. Their reproduction rate is very slow — they cannot produce the population explosions that pest snails do.
What substrate do they need?+
Fine sand or smooth substrate is strongly recommended. Coarse gravel can abrade their soft foot over time. They spend most of their time moving across the substrate surface.
How are Yellow Rabbit Snails shipped?+
Professionally packed in an insulated box with a heat or cold pack matched to your local weather forecast. Livestock ships Monday through Thursday and delivers Tuesday through Friday. Choose your preferred delivery date at checkout.
Is there a live arrival guarantee?+
Yes — 100% Live Arrival Guarantee on every order. Photo any DOA in the sealed bag on the day of delivery and submit a claim through the Start a Claim page. Approved claims are resolved with store credit, refund, or replacement at Razz Aquatics' discretion.
Will they eat my plants?+
Rabbit Snails generally leave healthy plants alone. They graze biofilm, algae, and soft decaying matter. Occasional nibbling on very tender leaves can occur if underfed — supplement with blanched vegetables to prevent this.
What temperature do they need?+
Rabbit Snails prefer 75–86°F — warmer than most freshwater snails. They originate from Sulawesi, Indonesia and do best in warm, stable conditions. Do not keep them below 72°F long-term.
How big do they get?+
Yellow Rabbit Snails reach 3–4 inches in shell length at maturity. They are one of the larger Tylomelania species and grow slowly over many months.
What is the free shipping threshold?+
Free 2-Day Shipping on orders $120+. Free Overnight on orders $200+. Plants and dry goods ship free at $75+.
