Cardinal Sulawesi Shrimp require warm, hard, alkaline water that is fundamentally different from any other shrimp we carry. Maintain temperature 78–84°F, pH 7.5–8.5, using a Sulawesi-specific mineral salt or reconstituted water matched to Sulawesi lake chemistry — follow the manufacturer’s target TDS or conductivity guidance for your specific salt. Do not use RO water without Sulawesi remineralisation, and do not use Taiwan Bee Caridina GH+ remineraliser, which produces an incompatible mineral profile. Stability is critical: Cardinal Sulawesi are sensitive to parameter swings and do not recover quickly from stress.
Provide an established tank with mature biofilm on rocks and hardscape — they graze biofilm constantly throughout the day. Supplement with specialty Sulawesi or biofilm foods 3–4 times per week. Never use copper-based medications. Temperature is the most critical parameter: do not allow it to drop below 78°F, even briefly.
