Super Red Bristlenose Plecos are a selectively bred colour form producing a vivid reddish-orange body colour instead of standard brown. Like all Bristlenose Plecos, they are compact at 4–5 inches, peaceful, and genuinely effective at cleaning algae from glass and hardscape. The Super Red colouration makes them unusually attractive for an algae-eating fish.
Unlike common Plecos that grow to 18 inches or more, Bristlenose stay at a manageable size suitable for most home aquariums. One of the most recommended utility fish in the planted tank hobby. Every fish we ship is quarantined before departure.
Care Notes
Super Red Bristlenose Plecos require driftwood in their tank — they rasp biofilm and organic material from wood surfaces constantly, and wood is important for their digestive health. Feed algae wafers, blanched zucchini, cucumber, or spinach as a regular staple. Supplement with sinking pellets. Provide at least one cave per pleco.
Hardy and adaptable in clean water with moderate flow and good oxygenation. Peaceful with all fish and generally safe with adult shrimp. Males develop distinctive bushy bristles on the snout; females have smaller bristles or none. They will claim a cave or driftwood piece as territory.
