Fire Red Shrimp (also called High Grade Cherry Shrimp) sit at the top of the Neocaridina davidi red color grading scale. Unlike standard Cherry shrimp, which have transparent areas on the legs and underside, Fire Reds display fully opaque, solid red coloration across the entire body. Same beginner-friendly care, dramatically better color.
Every Fire Red Shrimp we ship is quarantined and health-checked at our facility before it leaves. We run over 100 dedicated aquariums on-site. These are not pet store shrimp — they are selected for full-body color coverage and raised in stable, clean water.
Care Notes
Neocaridina are forgiving, but stability matters more than perfection. Avoid sudden swings in temperature, pH, or GH — drip acclimation on arrival is essential. Do not use copper-based medications in a shrimp tank under any circumstances. Feed a small amount 3–4 times per week; remove uneaten food after 24 hours. A mature tank with established biofilm is the best environment for a new colony.

Fire Red Shrimp show their color best against dark substrate. Black sand or fine gravel makes the solid red pop immediately. Java Moss or Weeping Moss gives shrimplets hiding spots and the shrimp constant biofilm grazing surfaces. A sponge filter is the recommended filtration.
